Representing the Gujarat Panthers in both the Men’s Singles and Doubles categories, Nagal has been instrumental in propelling his team to the semi-finals.
“It’s a lovely environment,” Nagal shared about his team’s camp. “Everyone’s very nice and supportive. I’ve really enjoyed playing for Gujarat Panthers these two seasons,” he said in a TPL release.
Sumit Nagal TPL 2024: Facing Rohan Bopanna
On matchday one, the Gujarat Panthers faced Rajasthan Rangers, where Nagal went head-to-head with Indian tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna in the Men’s Doubles category. Reflecting on the encounter, Nagal said lightheartedly, “He beat me badly on the first day.”
Nagal also acknowledged the challenge of playing against such an experienced opponent, adding, “It’s not easy to play someone like Bopanna, who has won a Grand Slam. At the end of the day, it’s fun to be out here and compete against such players.”

The Tennis Premier League has evolved significantly with each passing season, both in terms of competition and player quality. Nagal highlighted this, stating, “It’s been great. If you look at the quality of players this year, there’s already a big difference compared to before.”

Discussing his future plans, Nagal revealed his goal of breaking into the top 50 ATP rankings next year. “My goal is to aim for the top 50 ATP rankings, and I will do my best to be there,” he said.
