India’s High-Speed Rail Revolution: More Bullet Trains to Revolutionize Travel in India After Mumbai-Ahmedabad Project! India is on track to transform its transportation landscape with the expansion of its high-speed rail network, beginning with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: Key Milestones

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project is India’s first officially sanctioned bullet train project, covering a distance of 508 kilometers. Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, responding to queries in the Rajya Sabha, highlighted the project’s rapid progress and its technical and financial backing from Japan. The project will connect 12 major stations, including:

  • 336 kilometers of pier foundations completed
  • 331 kilometers of pier construction finished
  • 260 kilometers of girder casting completed
  • 225 kilometers of girder launching finished

One of the project’s most notable milestones is the development of a 21-kilometer undersea tunnel, a first for India’s railways. This groundbreaking feature will further enhance connectivity along the high-speed corridor.

Upcoming High-Speed Rail Corridors:

The Ministry of Railways has tasked the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) with preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for several new high-speed rail corridors. These include:
