Ladki Bahin Yojana: The Maharashtra Assembly Appropriates Rs 1,400 Crore for the “Ladki Bahin Yojana” after passing supplemental demands. The Maharashtra Assembly has approved additional demands totaling Rs 33,788.40 crore, of which Rs 1,400 crore is designated for the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,” the state’s flagship program. Women between the ages of 21 and 65 from families earning less than Rs 2.5 lakh annually are given a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500 as part of the initiative, which aims to empower women.

Key Allocations in Supplementary Demands

  • Ladki Bahin Yojana: Provisioned Rs 1,400 crore; monthly aid to increase to Rs 2,100.
  • Mukhyamantri Baliraja Scheme: Rs 3,050 crore allocated for free electricity to farmers.
  • PWD Development: Rs 7,490 crore for infrastructure projects.
  • Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: Rs 36 crore for construction at Rajkot Fort, Sindhudurg.
  • Rural Development: Rs 2,007 crore allotted.
  • Tribal Development: Rs 1,830 crore allocated.

The #LadkiBahinYojana has been a crucial initiative of the Mahayuti Government, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP factions. Over 2.5 crore women are already beneficiaries of the scheme, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently proposed increasing the stipend to Rs 2,100 to further bolster its impact.

Election Impact of Ladki Bahin Yojana:

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar credited the scheme for the Mahayuti alliance’s landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The coalition secured over 230 of the 288 seats, with the BJP leading with 132 seats, Shiv Sena claiming 57 seats, and NCP winning 41 seats.

In stark contrast, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SCP), faced a crushing defeat, winning only 46 seats collectively.

Pawar, who triumphed in the Baramati constituency with a margin of 1,00,899 votes, remarked, “Schemes like Ladki Bahin Yojana have played a major role in our victory. I am grateful to the voters and will dedicate the next five years to the state’s development.”

Supplementary Demands Breakdown:

The supplementary demands also allocated significant funds across various sectors:

  • Industry, Power, and Labour Departments: Rs 4,112 crore for initiatives.
  • Urban Development Department: Rs 2,774 crore for infrastructure upgrades.
  • Support for Sugar Factories: Rs 1,204 crore as margin money loans to sugar cooperatives.

The Ladki Bahin Yojana, with its expanded funding, continues to play a transformative role in the state. By uplifting women and supporting rural communities through parallel schemes, the Maharashtra government demonstrates its commitment to inclusive development.
