Indore | June 27, 2025 | Raja Raghuwanshi murder case: A Shillong court sent three individuals to police custody for six days in the Raja Raghuwanshi murder case. The accused include Indore-based property dealer Shillom Tomar (also called Lokendra Tomar), his associate Silome James, and security guard Balbir Ahirbar. They allegedly destroyed key evidence connected to the businessman’s honeymoon murder.

Police revealed the accused burned a bag containing a laptop and other items. Investigators are trying to recover the dumped laptop. Forensic teams are examining recovered materials. The Special Investigation Team brought the suspects from Madhya Pradesh for questioning.

Murder Plot Details Emerge

Raghuwanshi was killed during his Meghalaya honeymoon on May 23. His wife Sonam and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha reportedly planned the murder. Three contract killers executed the crime near Weisawdong Falls. Sonam allegedly stayed in Tomar’s Indore flat after fleeing.

Weapons and Cash Recovered

Police found a country-made pistol and ammunition in an Indore stream based on James’ information. They also recovered ₹50,000 from James’ car. All eight accused face charges including murder and evidence destruction under the BNS.

Lokendra Tomar was arrested on Monday, June 23, 2025, for the alleged destruction and concealment of vital evidence. Silome James, identified as the person who rented out the flat to Vishal Singh Chauhan (one of the main accused in the murder), and Balbir Ahirbar, the security guard of the flat, were arrested on Sunday for similar charges related to evidence destruction. Police reports indicate that these accused actively destroyed crucial evidence.

This included a bag containing a laptop and other materials. They even allegedly burned the bag itself. The police are now working to recover any destroyed materials. They are also investigating further to locate the laptop. It is believed to have been dumped by the roadside. Any recovered materials have been sent for forensic examination. Police are awaiting these reports to ascertain the exact contents.
